“Forrest Gump” is an unusual movie, absolutely unique and extremely touching. This drama won 6 Oscars and people’s love. I don’t know how Winston Groom could think of this story but I know that Robert Zemeckis perfectly put it into wonderful movie. It’s really one of the best drama movies I’ve ever seen!

 

“Forrest Gump” is not just an amazing story about one American man, but it’s a notebook of life. This movie makes us think about “who we are?” and “what we are living for?”. Forrest embodies all best personal qualities, but sometimes it’s too difficult for him to survive among greedy and unfair people.

Plot

Forrest is a small boy living in a provincial town. He is kind and sensitive but has not high level of intellect. Forrest lives with his mother and she is his best friend. She knows that Forrest is not too clever but she loves him heartily. Mother teaches him how to live, she shows him world around.

 

Mrs. Gump: Life's a box of chocolates, Forrest. You never know what you're gonna get.

 

Forrest is an invalid. He can’t walk. His doctor set a special prosthesis on Forrest’s legs. Forrest can move only with their help. But once when some guys starts laughing at him and throwing stones he breaks the prosthesis and runs.

 

Jenny Curran: Run, Forrest! Run!

 

After this incident Forrest’s life is changed. He runs so fast that coach takes him to the football team. There Forrest gains a success and becomes famous. Time passes and Forrest grows up. Now he is a nice boy but still everybody think he is a fool. Only his best friend Jenny accepts Forrest as he is. They’ve known each other since childhood. Gump loves Jenny but she thinks they are just friends.

Interesting facts

During filming Tom Hanks says: "My name's Forrest Gump. People call me Forrest Gump." In fact, the actor made a mistake, but Robert Zemeckis liked it and left the phrase.

 

Tom Hanks agreed to play the role with one condition: all scenes should be based on real historical events.

 

Alexander Zemeckis (director's son) and Elizabeth Hanks (daughter of actor) played episodic roles.
