“The Shawshank Redemption” belongs to such category of movies that we can watch again and again. It’s not just a touching tale about some brave guys. No, it’s a real story about hard and unfair life. Plot

The movie starts with the scene in court. Fact triers are going to award a sentence. Andy Dufrense is accused of killing his wife and her lover. Court doesn’t believe the fact that Andy hasn’t done it.

Then we see the true scene where Andy is drunk sitting in his car and looking at odious couple. He has weapon and really wants to kill his wife. But he is not a killer. He can’t do it. Dufrense leaves that place and throw out his gun in a river. But nobody finds it there. Andy is found guilty. The court sentences him to life.

The prison is another world, and people there live another life. There are special rules, special laws. Prisoners got used to them, and nothing changes year after year.

Red: The first night's the toughest, no doubt about it. They march you in naked as the day you were born, skin burning and half blind from that delousing shit they throw on you, and when they put you in that cell... and those bars slam home... that's when you know it's for real. A whole life blown away in the blink of an eye. Nothing left but all the time in the world to think about it.

Andy finds himself in this dangerous world. Now his life belongs to several people – guards and prison director. The main rule in this place is respecting God and reading Bible. This contrast between saint and worthless is the main idea of the movie.

In prison Andy meets black man named Red. Red can procure everything for prisoners. He is a sort of dealer in Shawshank. Red and Andy become friends. They spend many years in prison and go though many difficulties.
But one day Andy disappears. He escapes from prison – the first and unprecedented incident.
